The AURATA Quintet is a newly founded assembly. A group of first prize winners of Munich ARD Music Competitions were
invited to "The Chamber Music Festival of ARD" in June 2006. They performed various chamber music compositions, especially
the famous "Trout Quintet" by Schubert.
Their concerts in Munich and Berlin were greeted with applause and they got invitations from other well-known music centers.
The multinational group has thus become a permanent assembly as the "Aurata Quintet" (Aurata meaning golden trout).
The Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote after their Munich concert as:
"Selten wohl hat man das "Forellenquintett" derart geschärft
in Tempo und Klang gehört und doch keines-wegs gehertzt oder überpointiert, sondern manchmal von grossartiger Ruhe erfüllt.
Je weiter das Stück fortschritt, desto häufiger waren die lächelnden, verschwörerischen Blicke gegenseitiger
Übereinstimmung, um so launiger Tempo und Articulation".
Aurata Quintet Members:
- Özgür AYDIN: Turkish pianist. Graduated from Ankara State Conservatory, Royal College of Music in London
and Hannover High School of Music and Theater. Winners of 1997 Munich ARD, 2000 Esther Honens Calgary Canada, 2001 Cleveland ABD, 2002 Maria Callas Grand Prix in Athens.
- Keisuke OKAZAKI: Japanese violinist. Graduated from Lübeck, Mozarteum Salzburg and Berlin Music High School.
Winners of 2002 Josef Szigeti Budapest, 2003 Hannover, 2005 Reine Elisabeth Brussels and 2005 Munich ARD Competitions.
- Naoko SHIMIZU: Japanese violist. Graduated from Tokyo and Detmold Music Academy. Winners of 1996 Geneva,
1997 Munich ARD and 1998 New York Young Concert Artists. Solo-violist of Berliner Philharmoniker since 2001.
- Jing ZHAO: Chinese cellist. Graduated from Lübeck Music Academy. Student of Geringas and Rostropovitch. Winner of
2005 Munich ARD Competition. Performed with famous conductors like Ozawa, Abbado and Muti.
- Nabil SHEHATA: Egyptian / German bassist. Graduated from Würzburg and Berlin Music Academy. Winners of Cardona
Portugal, Rome and 2003 Munich ARD competitions. Solo-bassist of Berliner Philharmoniker since 2004.
